       ఆధ్యాత్మిక గురువులు, మత గ్రంథాలు సమాధానాలు ఇవ్వలేని జీవన సంక్షోభ సమయంలో, యు.జి. ఒక స్నేహితుడిగా, సత్యాన్వేషకుడిగా నిలిచారు.

      యు.జి. మన ఆలోచనల పునాదులను కూల్చేస్తాడు, కానీ అది జరుగుతోందని మనం గుర్తించం. అతని మాటలు మనలో చెరగని ముద్ర వేసి, మనని వెంటాడతాయి.

    విజయ్ ఆనంద్, భారతీయ చలనచిత్ర దర్శకుడు, యు.జి. కృష్ణమూర్తిని ఒక సాధారణ గురువుగా కాక, సాంప్రదాయ ఆధ్యాత్మికతపై ప్రశ్నలు లేవనెత్తే, మానవ ఆలోచనల స్వభావాన్ని సవాలు చేసే వ్యక్తిగా చూశారు. ఆధ్యాత్మిక గురువులు, మత గ్రంథాలు సమాధానాలు ఇవ్వలేని జీవన సంక్షోభ సమయంలో, యు.జి. ఒక స్నేహితుడిగా, సత్యాన్వేషకుడిగా నిలిచారని ఆనంద్ భావించారు. యు.జి. తీవ్రమైన, సంప్రదాయ విరుద్ధమైన ఆలోచనలు, తన జీవితంపై లోతైన ప్రభావం చూపాయని,  అవి తనలోని అంతర్ముఖ వైరుధ్యాలను ఎదుర్కొనేలా చేశాయని ఆనంద్ చెప్పారు.  ఆధ్యాత్మిక జీవనం గురించిన సత్యాలను అన్వేషించే వారికి ఒక కొత్త దృక్పథాన్ని ఇస్తుంది అని ఆనంద్ చెబుతారు.​ విజయ్ ఆనంద్ యు.జి.ని ఒక గురువుగా కాకుండా, ఒక మనిషిగా కలవాలని కోరుకునేవారు. తాను అడిగే ప్రశ్నలు తన జీవితంతో ముడిపడి ఉన్నందున, వాటికి సమాధానం కోసం ఎదురుచూసేవారు. యు.జి. ఉద్దేశపూర్వకంగా ఆ సంభాషణలను వృథా చేస్తారు, ఎందుకంటే ఆయన దృష్టిలో ఈ చర్చలన్నీ అర్థంలేనివి. కానీ విజయ్ ఆనంద్‌కు మాత్రం అది చాలా ముఖ్యమైన విషయం.

      “నిజానికి యు.జి.ని గురించి అడిగితే, నాకు ఏం చెప్పాలో తెలియదు. ఒకటి, నాకు అతని గురించి మాట్లాడేంత అర్హత లేదు. రెండు, నేను అతని మధ్య మీ మధ్య మాధ్యమం కాలేను అంటారు. అయినా ఒక ఆధ్యాత్మిక అన్వేషిగా, యు.జి.తో తన ప్రయాణాన్ని, ఆయన ప్రభావం తనపై ఎలా ఉందో హృదయపూ ర్వకంగా ఇలా పంచుకున్నారు.

        “యూజీ టిచర్ కాదు. నీ సొంత టిచర్ నీకు శత్రువు అయినపుడు ఇతడు నీకు స్నేహితుడు అవుతాడు.  మన జీవితాలు తీవ్రమైన సమస్యల్లోకి వెళ్ళినపుడు ...మేధోపరమైన సమస్యలు కాదు, తట్టుకోలేని భావోద్వేగమైనవి ఎదురైనపుడు ఆ సమస్యలను నీవు ఎదుర్కోలేని క్షణాలు వస్తాయి. నీకు ఏ సహాయం అందదు. నీకు నీవుగా ఏమీ చేయలేవు. అప్పుడు ఖురాన్, బైబిల్, గీత వంటి ఆధ్యాత్మిక  పుస్తకాల వైపు చూస్తావు. అకస్మాత్తుగా అవి కొంత స్వాంతన ఇస్తాయి.  కానీ అవి తాత్కాలికం. నీవు మళ్లీ అవే పుస్తకాలు చదువుతావు. అవి నిన్ను కొంత సేపు బయట పడేస్తాయి. ఇలా జరుగుతుంటుంది. ఈ క్రమలో చివరకు ఈ పదాలు కూడా మృత ప్రాయంగా (Dead words) కనిపిస్తాయి. ఈ పుస్తకాలు కూడా ఎందుకు పనిచేయడం లేదనే ప్రశ్న వస్తుంది. ఎప్పుడైతే ఈ పుస్తకాలు ఫెయిల్ అయ్యయో అప్పుడు టిచర్ కోసం చూడడం మొదలవుతుంది. వృత్తిలో ఇబ్బంది ఎదురైతే ఒక నిపుణుడి దగ్గరకు వెళతాం. ఆరోగ్య సమస్య అయితే డాక్టర్ దగ్గరకు వెళతాం. ఇటువంటి సమస్య ఎదురైనపుడు రజనీష్, డీ ఫ్రీజాన్, జె.కృష్ణ మూర్తి వంటి వారి దగ్గరకు వెళతాం. ప్రారంభంలో వారి సహాయాన్ని గుర్తిస్తావు. వారు నీకు జీవన మార్గాన్ని ఇస్తారు. కొంత ధ్యానం, కొంత తాత్వికత..., ఇవన్నీ తాత్కాలికంగా నీ ఖాళీలను పూరిస్తాయి. ఒక సమాధానం దొరికిందని భావిస్తావు. ఈ ధ్యానం చేసినంత కాల చింతన తొలగిపోతుంది. ఎప్పుడైతే ఇది ఆగిపోతుందో నీకు నివే మిగలిపోతావు. మళ్లీ సమస్య దగ్గరకే వస్తావు.  అందువల్ల నిజంగా నీకు సమాధానం కనబడదు. నీకు నీవు ఎంత కష్ట పడినా ఇంకా చేయాలని  ఇక్కడ టీచర్  చెబుతాడు. దీంతో రెండింతలు నీవు కష్ట పడటానికి ప్రయత్నిస్తావు. ఇదంతా పడగడుపులా అవుతుంది. నీకు నీవు నిజాయతీగా ఉన్నా ఎక్కడా ఏమీ పొందలేమని గ్రహిస్తావు. దీంతో నీవు ఆగిపోతావు. అప్పుడు నీవు యూజీని కలుస్తావు.”

         యు.జి.ప్రభావం

​       ”యు.జి.మాటలు వెంటనే అర్థం కావు, కానీ తరువాత అవి మనల్ని వెంటాడతాయి. మనకు తెలియకుండానే, ఆయన మాటలు మనపై పనిచేస్తాయి. “మనం మంచి మనుషులం, ఆధ్యాత్మికం” అన్న భావాలన్నీ ఆయన మాటలతో కూలిపోతాయి. మిగిలేది మన అస్థిత్వపు ఒంటరితనం మాత్రమే. సంప్రదాయ గురువుల వద్ద ఆశలు తీరని వారికి యు.జి. నిజమైన స్నేహితుడిలా అనిపిస్తాడు. జ్ఞానం కాదు—భ్రమల చెత్తను తొలగించిన మనిషి యు.జి. ప్రశ్నల నుంచి సమాధానాలకు కాదు, ప్రశ్నల నుంచి స్వేచ్ఛకు దారి చూపారు. యు.జి.. నా జీవితాన్ని మార్చివేశారు."నేను మళ్లీ యు.జి..ని కలవకపోయినా నాకు పశ్చాత్తాపం లేదు. యు.జి. చేయాల్సిన పని నాపై పూర్తి చేశారని నేను భావిస్తున్నాను" అని విజయ్ ఆనంద్ అన్నారు. "నేను కోల్పోవాల్సిన దాన్ని కోల్పోయాను. నేను సంతృప్తితో ఉన్నాను. నా జీవితంలో నేను పొందిన గొప్ప అదృష్టం యు.జి.ని కలవడం. లేకపోతే నా జీవితం పూర్తిగా వృథా అయ్యేది" అని విజయ్ ఆనంద్ హృదయపూర్వకంగా చెబుతారు.

    *యు.జి. గురువుల వంచనతో విసిగిపోయిన వారికి స్నేహితుడిలా అనిపించాడు.

    *ఆయన ఆలోచనలు నాలో పూర్తిగా జీర్ణమైపోయాయి.

    *కొన్నిసార్లు కఠినంగా, అవమానకరంగా మాట్లాడినా, అది మనలోని తప్పుడు అంచనాలను కూల్చడానికి మాత్రమే.

        *యు.జి. జ్ఞానం ఇవ్వడు, సంప్రదాయాలను ధ్వంసం చేస్తాడు. ఆయన “ఈ లోకజ్ఞానం అంతా చెత్త” అంటాడు.

    *ఆ చెత్త తొలగిపోతే, ప్రపంచమే చెత్తలా కనిపిస్తుంది.

      *మనం మరింత మంచి, ఆధ్యాత్మికం అన్న భావాలు అన్నీ కూలిపోతాయి. మిగిలేది మన అస్థిత్వపు దుఃఖం మాత్రమే.

       *కానీ ఇదే ఒక విప్లవం. మనలో ప్రశ్నలు, ఆరాటాలు అన్నీ వీగిపోతే, ఒక కొత్త అవగాహన వస్తుంది.

       *యు.జి. చేసిన పని నా లోపల పనిచేస్తూనే ఉంది. పుస్తకాలు చదువుతుంటే కూడా ఒక పేజీ చదివాకే విసరేసే స్థితి వస్తుంది.

          *నేను పొందింది కాదు—నేను కోల్పోయింది గొప్ప సంపద.

         *నా జీవితంలో అతి పెద్ద అదృష్టం—యు.జి. అనే మనిషిని కలిసినదే. లేదంటే నా జీవితం వృథా అయిపోయేది.

    “There are moments in our lives when we go through a crisis—not an intellectual crisis but an emotional crisis, when you cannot cope with the suffering. Since no help is coming and you cannot help yourself, that is when you turn to religious books like the Koran, the Gita, or the Bible. You suddenly feel that you get solace. But that solace does not last. You read the books again. They give you exhilaration for an hour or so. Again it wears out. This goes on. And then you feel that these are probably dead words. That’s why the books are not working. So when these books fail, that is the time when you start looking for a teacher. If there is a profession, you go to an expert. If there is a problem with your health, you go to the doctor. When you have a crisis of this kind, you are likely to go to people like Rajneesh, Da Free John, and J. Krishnamurthi. You do find initially that they help. These people give you a way of life. Certain meditation, certain philosophy which fills you up for a short while. You feel as if you have got an answer. As long as you do meditation, it seems that the crisis has passed away. But the moment you stop and you are with yourself, you are back to the crisis. So you really have found no solution. Here the teacher tells you that you have not done enough of whatever you are supposed to do. So you go back and put in double the effort. This is a kind of forgetfulness like drinking. If you are not getting anywhere. You are stuck. This is when you should meet U. G..”

        ‘UG is totally digested in my system’ If you ask me about UG, I wouldn’t know what to say. Firstly, I am not competent to talk about him and secondly I cannot become a mediator between UG and you.

       Most people are likely to misunderstand you if you talk about him. UG is totally digested in my system.I don’t miss him and there are times when I want to meet him not as a teacher, but as a human being.

        Every time he comes, there is one question I ask. I keep looking for meaning because the question has mingled with my life. Whenever he comes, he spends a lot of time with me.

     He wastes his time purposely since he is at a stage where he considers these talks as nonsense.To some people, they are mere entertainment. For me it is a serious matter. He doesn’t realise how impressionable the human mind is.

      I feel there is a basis to a lot of things that have happened in this country. He has to make fun of them and destroy them before he finds the real meaning.

    But he is never going to do it (clarify things), because it is dangerous.

       If a man of tradition comes to ask a question and UG’s answer is not in the negative, he sticks to that tradition, which UG dreads.He wants to destroy old traditions. He is the greatest non-teacher of this world.

He doesn’t want to be a teacher and give you everything. Instead he wants to take away everything. He refers to all knowledge as garbage because it is destructive to us.

     But the tragedy is that if the garbage is removed out of you, the world too moves out of you. You become garbage to the world and the world starts appearing as garbage.

    So the feelings we harbor about ourselves as better human beings, more spiritual, having questions and being seekers are all nonsense and hence fall off. When it falls off, what remains with you is the misery of your own existence.

      U.G. filled a void for those who felt their spiritual teachers had become enemies or were not helpful. 

    Our understanding has been torn apart by UG but you can’t see him doing that. His words will haunt you later.

     Even UG looks like garbage most of the time. If I never see UG again, I will have no regrets. I think UG has done his work on me.

       U.G. had deeply impacted him, and that his ideas had become integrated into his own understanding of life

       I have got (rather I have lost) what I should have lost. I am a content man. The greatest fortune in my life was that I met a man called UG. Otherwise, my life would have been a total waste.”

       Anand acknowledged that U.G. could be difficult and even insulting at times, but that this was part of his unique way of challenging people to think differently.
